Nandan Ghiya

Nandan Ghiya is an artist whose practice explores the disjunction between various forms of image-based media. Through his works he tries to challenge the viewer’s understanding of identity, history and space in the context of their incessant interaction with digital technology. Often he tries to distort perception and to explore the effects that digital technology has on indigenous cultures and personal identities. Ghiya’s art presents the tensions between a culturally rich country and a rapidly globalizing world. He uses old photographs, paintings, frames, books, and memorabilia to create real- virtual digitised spaces.
